Cheyenne Couple Scores Super Bowl 50 Tickets, and It’s on Their Anniversary!
Do you know anyone going to the big game on Sunday?
A couple from Cheyenne has scored a pair of Super Bowl 50 tickets and the game will be played on their 57th wedding anniversary.
Larry and Susan Adams of Cheyenne have had Denver Bronco season tickets since 1987 and this was the first year they were picked in the Super Bowl lottery. When a team wins the chance to play in the big game, about 150 season ticket holders, from each team that's headed to the Super Bowl, are given a chance to buy tickets before they're offered to the general public.
The lower priced tickets were selling out fast, so they ended up with a pair of tickets in the fourth level of Levi Stadium. The face value was $1,000 per ticket, then other fees were added in.
They had to pick up their tickets in person at Mile High Stadium, showing their I.D.'s to get their pair of the big gold-leaf-plated tickets. (Made me think of Willy Wonka)
After working at the computer from 9 a.m. until about 6:30 p.m.on Monday, their son Tim Adams finally had them booked to fly out to San Jose on Friday, spend some time around Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco on Saturday, see the game Sunday afternoon and then fly back on Monday.
As you might imagine, prices for everything around Santa Clara, California where Super Bowl 50 will be played, have skyrocketed. Tim tells me his Mom had just paid off their truck, now they're using it for a loan to pay for their once-in-a-lifetime trip to see the Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers.
The first time Denver made it to the big game, Tim remembers his Mom saying she would 'sell her soul to see the Broncos play in the Super Bowl.' Well, now she knows about how much that's going for.
