The Casper Mountain Fire District is eliminating slash piles on Casper Mountain near Beartrap Meadow this weekend, officials with Natrona County Emergency Management say.

Natrona County emergency manager Stew Anderson says crews opted to burn the piles of accumulated brush this weekend after recent damp weather atop the mountain.

Anderson says, at this time, there is no immediate cause for concern.

Eyewitnesses saw smoke coming from Casper Mountain during the 7 p.m. hour on Saturday.
