If you have room in your heart and home for a furry friend, now is the time to do something about it: cat adoptions are FREE this holiday season at Metro Animal Services. Through December 31st, the regular $35 adoption fee has been waived. Metro is excited for the community to visit its new Cat Room where cat lovers may see all the kitties needing new homes in a relatively stress free area, away from the barking dogs.

When you adopt an animal from Metro, your new pet will receive age-appropriate vaccinations (excluding rabies) and a pre-registered microchip. The pet also comes with a voucher for a free health inspection by a veterinarian of your choice to make sure you are aware of any potential health issues. Many of the animals available have already been neutered, or you may pick up information on low-cost neutering programs in the community for people with limited incomes.

Of course, we also have many dogs available for adoption for only $50, and occasionally we even have specialty pets needing homes. This month, we have a rabbit, a hamster, and even a sweet goat that need new families. You may view available animals at our website: http://www.casperwy.gov/government/departments/police/metro_animal_control/

Our hours in December are Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 to 6:00 pm, but we will be closed December 25th and 26th for the Christmas holiday. Beginning in January, our hours will increase to 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday, although we will be closed on January 1st and 2nd. When we re-open on January 3rd, adoption fees for cats will return to $35, and the fee for dogs will remain $50.

Metro Animal Services is located at 2392 E. Metro Road in Casper, just south of Bryan Stock Trail and I-25, near Stuckenhoff’s. During Shelter hours, we can be reached at 307-235-8398, or 307-235-8278 outside of Shelter hours. Our website is: http://www.casperwy.gov/government/departments/police/metro_animal_control/
