Former Sheriff Mark Benton has Died

Former Natrona County Sheriff Mark Benton has died.

Here is the official press release from his son Neil...

"We are heartbroken to announce that former Natrona County Sheriff Mark Benton passed on October 11, 2014 due to complications from an aggressive form of dementia. Mark was our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He took great pride and joy in serving his community during his 40 years with the Natrona County Sheriff's office.  He will be greatly missed."

Sheriff Benton retired in June of last year citing health concerns.

He had served the Natrona County Sheriff's Department in various capacities for over 40 years. Benton was was 62 at the time of his retirement last year.
