Wyoming Cowboys in the NFL: Week 3
LARAMIE -- "They had a good plan."
Josh Allen said that to the local media following a five-turnover performance in a 24-16 victory over the visiting Chargers Sunday inside Highmark Stadium. That is a massive understatement.
James Cook fumbled on the first play from scrimmage. Allen, who was under center at Wyoming from 2015-17, followed up that gift with two interceptions in the first 30 minutes of play, his first pair of picks this season.
“Sitting there to be tied at halftime felt like a dream, to be honest,” Allen said, referring to the 10-10 tie at the break.
Allen, who connected on 16-of-26 throws for 204 yards, did score two touchdowns on the ground, helping propel Buffalo to a 3-0 start.
Below is a list of all the former Wyoming Cowboys and how they did in Week 3:
S - Andrew Wingard (Arizona Cardinals)
Wingard put forth a phenomenal effort in the Cardinals’ 36-30 loss at San Francisco on Sunday. He collected a team-high 10 tackles. For the season, Wingard has logged 22 tackles, three tackles for loss, one pass defended, one interception and one forced fumble for the 1-2 Cardinals. Arizona travels to the New York Giants in Week 4.
DE - Carl Granderson (New Orleans Saints)
Granderson enjoyed a solid game in the Saints’ 35-27 loss to Las Vegas on Sunday. He made four tackles. For the season, Granderson has 11 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one quarterback hit and a blocked field goal. New Orleans hosts Atlanta on Monday Night Football.
S - Marcus Epps (Philadelphia Eagles)
Epps continued his early-season strong play in the Eagles’ 27-7 loss at Chicago on Monday night. He registered five tackles. For the season, Epps has recorded 14 tackles for the 2-1 Eagles. Philadelphia hosts the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4.
TE - Treyton Welch (New Orleans Saints)
Welch didn’t play in the Saints’ 35-27 loss to Las Vegas on Sunday. For the season, Welch has participated in 28 snaps, 15 on offense and 13 on defense. New Orleans hosts Atlanta on Monday Night Football.
OL - Frank Crum (Denver Broncos)
Crum has begun the season in Denver on the injured reserve list. The Broncos defeated the Los Angeles Rams 30-26 on Sunday to move to 2-1 on the year. Denver travels to San Francisco in Week 4.
OL - Emmanuel Pregnon (Jacksonville Jaguars)
The third-round selection of the Jaguars in last spring's draft was on the field at left guard for all 62 snaps last Sunday in a 35-6 victory over New England. Pregnon played at Wyoming from 2020-22 before transferring to USC. He spent his last collegiate season at Oregon. Pregnon allowed zero quarterback pressures against the Patriots on 33 dropbacks.
DE - Sabastian Harsh (Houston Texans)
This former Wyoming edge rusher tallied three tackles, including two solo stops in a 19-17 loss at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Harsh, a Scottsbluff, Neb., native, has seven tackles and half-a-sack through his first three NFL games.
Caden Barnett (Chicago Bears), Isaiah Neyor (Green Bay Packers) and Evan Svoboda (Los Angeles Chargers) are on their respective team’s practice squads. John Michael Gyllenborg (Kansas City Chiefs) suffered a season-ending injury in fall camp. Solomon Byrd (Houston Texans) is also on injured reserve.
