Support Local Heroes At The Grinchmas Party On Saturday
If you've ever driven between Casper and Gillette, you've likely noticed there's a lot of open land with houses, ranches, and buildings sprinkled throughout.
When I make that trip, a couple of thoughts always cross my mind.
1. How long would it take for the fire department to get here if a house caught fire or a wildfire broke out?
2. Where's the closest place to stop for a bathroom break or to grab a drink?
Both questions are answered with "Midwest, WY."
The Northern Natrona County town, 40 miles North of Casper, that grew and shrank in size with the Salt Creek Oil Field. Originally named Home Camp, the name was changed to Midwest in 1924 to reflect the Midwest Oil Company.
Midwest is also the home to the Salt Creek Emergency Services, the resource that answers the first question that always crosses my mind. If a fire, medical emergency, or accident of any type happens in that area, Salt Creek Emergency Services is likely one of the first units to arrive on scene.
They cover from the 210 on I-25 all the way to the Johnson County line on I-25 and 387. We also provide mutual aid to Natrona County and the Powder River Fire District, meaning they can request our assistance outside our normal area of coverage. This year alone, they were called out to help support multiple wildfires.
Helping keep SCES equipped to jump into action when the call for help comes in, and supporting the men and women who suit up to respond to those events, is a must.
One exciting way you can help out is to grab your family, put on your favorite Christmas PJs, and head to the Salt Creek Emergency Services building in Midwest on December 13th for a fun night with the crew for a Grinchmas Party.
It's free to watch the movie, but you can make a cash donation, purchase a popcorn, or a drink for just $1 each. All of the money raised will go directly to support the SCES crew, who help so many others.
Bring your chairs and blankets, the movie will be shown inside a heated bay at the building located at 601 Navy Row in Midwest.
