Before April began in Casper, there has been 62.2 inches of snow in 2023. From 2010 to 2019, Casper averaged 75.4 inches per year, NOT per 4 months.

With estimates of up to a record breaking 26.7 inches (maybe higher), that would put us at 88.9 inches through April, 13" more than average.

This is my 2nd winter in Casper and I love it. Having 4-wheel drive is a must and until this snow storm, I haven't been forced home. Again, until today.

I knew the day was going to be a mess, when I woke up to my coffee pot not sounding just right, I jumped to my feet to see what was the matter, when I noticed that pot was not fully under the spout and coffee was everywhere.

While this was going on, I get a message from neighbor Glenn Woods, from Wake Up Wyoming, telling me there was no longer a road. I wasn't sure what to think about that, so I continued on my morning, re-made the coffee, took a shower and out the door I went...to come back in 3 minutes later to set up shop in my home studio.

Glenn wasn't kiddin'...there's no road and I'm not swimming to my truck.

Score one for mother nature, the guy that thought he'd never get snowed in, is snowed in.

This blizzard has shut down a good portion of the Casper and central Wyoming region. Closing isn't a thing that any business or city wants to do, but they do it for the safety of their employees and all of us.

With many places closed, there's probably not a reason for you to be out. Stay home, enjoy the family time and we'll all try it again tomorrow.

Be safe.
