Local Children’s Author Wins Two Awards for Her Latest Book
In March we told you about a newly released Wyoming based children's book "Rowdy Randy."
The author, Casey Rislov, lives right here in Casper and to date has written five children's books. Including one of my favorite children's books, "Time Together, Time Well Spent."
The illustrator is famous Wyoming artist Zachary Pullen, and it's safe to say that his artwork truly brings the sassy character of Rowdy Randy to life.
"Rowdy Randy" tells the story of a cowgirl named Randy. But this isn’t any run-of-the-mill tall tale. This is the original story of how one small horsefly with a big personality can rile up a whole heap of trouble, leading up to a full-blown stampede.
This last weekend Rislov attended the 25th Annual Colorado Independent Publishers Association EVVY 2019 Awards.
She took home two awards for her book "Rowdy Randy" and we couldn't be prouder!
She won First Place in Children's Picture Books (fiction) and First Place Children's Illustration.
When I asked her how she felt about the award she responded.
Casper is full of great people. If you are doing something great for the community, people want to help out in so many ways. Zak Pullen and Wind City Books are some of those people and they have helped me from the beginnings of my book career. So I am fortunate that this book came together in a way that was a fit for Zak’s illustrations. Winning an award for best children’s book and technical illustrations could of not been done without Zak’s talent and expertise. [I am thankful] I was able to [share] this at the award ceremony in downtown Denver.
If you've read this book you know that these awards are well deserved.
