Mopey British singer Morrissey cancelled his musical performance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on Tuesday (Feb. 26) after finding out that the cast members of 'Duck Dynasty' – a reality television family that's made some decent scratch selling duck calls to hunters – would also be appearing on the same night.

Morrissey, a staunch vegan, said he couldn't “morally” appear on 'Jimmy Kimmel,' adding, “As far as my reputation is concerned I can't take the risk of being on a show alongside people who in effect amount to animal serial-killers."

Hey, we love animals as much as anyone who watches videos of otters chasing butterflies on a loop. But then again, this is the Moz -- a guy who creates conspiracy theories about the Royal Family. So he had to know Kimmel would made lemonade of lemons.

And indeed he did, with a little help from the members of 'Duck Dynasty' themselves and a brand new "product" dubbed the Carrot Call, which you can see above.

In response to the spoof, Morrissey released a statement that accused Kimmel of ridiculing depression (in reference to a direct jab at Morrissey's music versus depression itself), healthy eating and gun control laws, and closed with this:

“None of the above issues are, of course, as important as Jimmy Kimmel himself, who has finally revealed his show to have an overwhelming loss of meaning. Tune in and relive the intellectual fog of the 1950s.”

And if you thought that would shame the late-night host into backing down, well ... you don't know Jimmy Kimmel.
