EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Steve Tambellini is out as general manager of the Edmonton Oilers. Tambellini was in his fifth season with Edmonton and was named the club's fourth general manager July 31 2008.

The Oilers are on the verge of missing the NHL playoffs for a seventh consecutive season.

The Chicago Blackhawks are closer to wrapping up the No. 1 seed in the NHL's Western Conference playoffs after running their latest winning streak to six games.

The Hawks squandered a 2-0 lead before Andrew Shaw and Niklas Hjalmarsson scored just over three minutes apart in the third period of a 5-2 win over Dallas. Jonathan Toews netted his team-leading 21st goal to support Ray Emery, who made 16 saves and improved to 16-1.

The outcome gives the Blackhawks an 11-point lead over Anaheim and prevents the Stars from moving into a tie with Minnesota and Detroit for the last two Western Conference playoff berths.

The Boston Bruins remain just one point off the Northeast Division lead after Montreal absorbed its second straight lopsided loss.

Scott Hartnell recorded a hat trick and Philadelphia matched a season high for goals in a 7-3 trouncing of the Canadiens. Claude Giroux (juh-ROO') and Jakub Voracek (YAH'-kuhb VOHR'-uh-chehk) each had a goal and two assists to help the Flyers snap a four-game losing streak.

Also on ice, James Reimer turned back 32 shots in his third shutout of the season as Toronto handed New Jersey its 10th straight loss, 2-0. The Maple Leafs took just 12 shots and finally went ahead on Phil Kessel's power-play goal with 6:32 remaining.

Columbus picked up its fourth straight win by beating Colorado 4-3 on Nick Foligno's (foh-LEE'-nohz) goal at 4:31 of overtime. Foligno also assisted on R.J. Umberger's goal with 1:27 left in regulation.

Ryan Kesler scored two goals and Roberto Luongo made 36 saves in Vancouver's 5-2 win at Nashville. The Canucks have won five of six and lead the Northwest Division by five points over the Wild.

Jason Pominville scored twice and Minnesota halted a three-game skid by downing Calgary 4-3. Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Pominville scored 1:13 apart early in the third period to put the Wild ahead 4-1.

Antti Niemi (AN'-tee nee-YEH'-mee) stopped 35 shots for his fourth shutout of the season and the San Jose Sharks earned a key road victory by beating the Phoenix Coyotes 4-0. Needing a win after a rough week, the Sharks overwhelmed Phoenix in the second period to move within a point of Los Angeles for fourth place in the Western Conference.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby skated before the team's practice on Monday, but he remains sidelined indefinitely with a broken jaw.

Crosby wore a protective mask while skating with injured teammates James Neal and Paul Martin. Coach Dan Bylsma says there is no timetable for Crosby's return, but called it a positive step for the NHL's leading scorer.

Crosby has not played since being struck in the face by a puck on March 30.
