Pregnant Popeye’s Manager Fired for Refusing to Pay Back Money Taken During Robbery
Getting robbed is bad enough, but what happened to this woman afterward made it even worse.
A pregnant manager at a Popeye's in Channelview, Tex., was fired because she refused to pay back the money to the restaurant it lost in the robbery.
The robbery took place on March 31.
“I told them I’m not paying nothing,” Marissa Holcomb says. “I just had a gun to me. I’m not paying the money."
The restaurant reportedly gave Holcomb, who already has three kids, the ax because she left too much money in the register, something she had done before. However, Holcomb claims the robbery happened during a busy time of day and the money in the register was coming in so fast.
"They got what they got because that's what we made within one hour," she said.
The owner of the Popeye's would not discuss the matter.
Holcomb is now looking for another job, but doesn't have high hopes. She said, "I mean who's gonna call me? I'm five months pregnant. The fact that I got robbed at gunpoint and it's like nobody cares."
