Rihanna is expanding her feature-film resume, this time tapping into the wonderful world of animation. The pop star is set to voice a character in the new DreamWorks film ‘Happy Smekday!’.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, RiRi and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ star Jim Parsons have landed the lead parts in the upcoming movie. The project is an adaptation of the award-winning book ‘The True Meaning of Smekday’ by Adam Rex.

THR says the film is about “a friendly alien race invades Earth and uses it as a hideout from their mortal enemy. When one lowly alien accidentally notifies the enemies of his whereabouts, he is forced to go on the run with a teenage girl, embarking on a comical road trip across a postapocalyptic America and learning what it really means to be human.”

DreamWorks plans on releasing the movie in the fourth quarter of 2014, adding to Rihanna’s burgeoning acting career. She recently appeared in ‘Battleship,’ with Liam Neeson and Taylor Kitsch, and will star in Seth Rogen’s directorial debut, ‘The End of the World,’ along with Emma Watson. Fans can also catch a peek at the singer appearing as herself in ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me.’
