Taylor Swift’s ‘Safe & Sound’ Video From ‘The Hunger Games’ to Drop Next Week
Taylor Swift is ready to unveil the music video for ‘Safe & Sound,’ her contribution to ‘The Hunger Games’ soundtrack featuring folk duo the Civil Wars. And she’s going big. The video will appear next week as part of a “global music video premiere” promoted by MTV and Viacom.
The goal of the premiere is to reach as many people around the world as possible, perhaps as many as 600 million, according to Van Toffler, President of Viacom Music & Logo Group. He told TheWrap, “I’m not sure we’ve ever done a global artist video premiere across all of our channels domestically much less globally. What a great way to reach hundred of millions of people around the world and let them know about a movie and song.”
The video debuts at precisely 7:54PM ET next Monday on MTV and will be shown at TaylorSwift.MTV.com in more than 150 countries. Following the premiere, Swift will appear on MTV.com for a 30-minute interview special.
As for clues about what the video will look like, MTV did post one image from the clip, which shows Swift in a long white dress in a green field with cloud-like puffs of smoke or fog around her. ‘Safe & Sound’ is a beautiful, subdued track written for the science fiction action film, which hits theaters in March. Swift performed the song live as a surprise guest of the Civil Wars during their recent Nashville concert.
