Nicki Minaj Takes Home Award for Top Rap Artist at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards

For the umpteenth time in her career, Nicki Minaj is taking the old boys club of the hip-hop world and turning it on it's head. With her win for Top Rap Artist at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, she seems to be usurping the throne from rappers of the past.

Minaj, who beat out Drake, Flo Rida, Psy (we were puzzled by this too) and Pitbull, readily admitted she was not expecting the honor. Really? With more than a dozen singles on the Hot 100 chart, it seems like a no brainer to us!

The beautiful Harajuku Barbie was escorted on stage by her main man, Safaree Samuels, in her flowing red gown, which she wore with natural looking makeup and her blond hair in a large fro of curls. Of course, Nicki thanked her very loyal fans saying, "Barbz I love  you. Without you this wouldn't be possible."

Finally, Minaj finished her speech with an inspirational message for fans, "Where there's a will there's a way." Seems as though Nicki's will and hard work have paid off immensely now that she's adding another trophy to her mantle.
