A boy was taken to Wyoming Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after being shot in Casper early Saturday morning.

Police were actively interviewing a suspect several hours later, according to department spokeswoman Rebekah Ladd. She says there is no ongoing threat to the community in connection with the shooting.

The boy was found at a home in the 3500 block of Big Horn Street, not far from Kelly Walsh High School, when police responded to a report of shots fired at roughly 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Officers responded to a private residence, not the school grounds.

After the victim was taken to the hospital, officers searched the area and found the suspect after a few hours.

Ladd declined to release further information regarding the incident due to the ongoing investigation. Police typically withhold identifying information regarding juvenile victims, and the boy's name has not been released.

Ladd said further information would be put out as it becomes available.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Casper Police Department at 235-8278.
