Does ‘Cake Like Lady Gaga’ Song Hint at Weight Criticisms?
Two weeks ago, a DJ White Shadow-produced track featuring rapping which people thought was delivered by Lady Gaga leaked. It featured lots of boastful references to the Mother Monster, including a refrain of “Cake like Lady Gaga.” Does the reference to cake anything to do with her weight gain and the media frenzy over it, especially since there were new lines added to a new version of the song?
Another version of the song was used at the Thierry Mugler runway show in Paris this past week, where Gaga served as the musical director. No one knows if the song is a Gaga track or if she really assisted on it, but the “cake” reference and amended lyrics have people wondering if it is a response to the out-of-control criticism of her recent weight gain, which sparked her Body Revolution 2013 on her Little Monsters site, where fans share unaltered photos of their bodies.
On the newer version of the song, the unknown male voice declares, “You chew beef, I wear meat / And stay on top of the — I’m-I’m-I’m-I’m / Getting fat and so is my bank /With a sold out world tour, b—-,” according to MTV News.
Perhaps the song was changed to reflect what’s going on in Lady Gaga’s fab, high-fashion, high-end and high calorie world lately?
Gaga has a close connection to Mugler. Her stylist and Haus of Gaga cohort Nicola Formichetti is the creative director of the fashion house and even said that the new line of handbags was inspired by Gaga’s patoot.
