The Community Health Center of Central Wyoming will be hosting the start of an annual event, Give Kids A Smile, this February 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 their facility in Casper.

Give Kids A Smile was first incepted in 2003 when the American Dental Association came together with volunteer dentists and dental staff to create an opportunity for underserved children to receive free dental care. Their goal was to help children receive care they desperately needed and to raise awareness that our children deserve to have a healthy mouth. This year the Community Health Center is one of over 1,500 events in the nation with 9,100 volunteering dentists serving an estimated 350,000 children!

The CHCCW is working with Natrona County School District principles and nurses to reach out to select elementary students who may benefit from a day of free dental cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants and referrals. The CHCCW along with 50 volunteers and participating local businesses will turn a routine day at the dentist into a very fun, festive event and educational experience complete with Tooth Fairies. The Community Health Center of Central Wyoming’s CEO, Daniel Meyers says:  “I am excited to begin a new tradition in the community and hope that this day will lead others to start making changes in our area to address the needs of our underserved children”.

The CHCCW “Give Kids A Smile” event is an enjoyable, whimsical and festive affair that includes Tooth Fairies, a magician, face painters, balloons, and games with the Renaissance Fair’s King and Queen. The purpose of the event is to provide the selected, underserved children in Natrona County the opportunity to receive care from our dental professionals in a comfortable, fun and inviting atmosphere while parents have the opportunity to discuss healthcare options that may be available for them to address their children’s dental needs.
