Casper Gets Second Ice Sheet After Years Of Community Fundraising Effort
It's happening after years of planning, fundraising, and frustration. Capser is getting a second sheet of ice at the Casper Rec Center. Until now, this dream has almost seemed unreachable, but this goes to show that dreams can, and do, come true.
The Casper hockey and ice skating families have had to suffer early mornings, late evenings, long weekends, and hours of waiting just to get some ice time, but thanks to the donations, hard work, and dedication put in by so many people, it's all coming together on September 26, when the work begins.
The new facility will expand the opportunities for the future of hockey, ice skating, training, and potential for community and economic growth in Casper.
The new facility looks to be a major addition to the current ice arena, adding a 45,000 sq. ft. building, a second sheet of ice, additional spectator seating, more bathrooms, a larger concessions area, upgraded locker rooms, a referee room, and a dryland training area.
The group 'Put Casper On Ice 2.0' has been a driving factor in this mission and says on their website
As Casper continues to attract investors, entrepreneurs, and families seeking a dynamic urban environment, the infrastructure must be in place to accommodate this growth. The construction of the new sheet of ice reflects the City's dedication to meeting Casper's evolving needs and positioning it as a premier destination for youth sports.
Casper's expansion and growth in the last decade is incredible. New hotels, restaurants, sports venues, and community involvement cannot be dismissed. The hard work and dedication of so many families, individuals, companies, and investors should inspire other communities across the country.
