Even though it's October, construction season doesn't look like it's settling down. It's been an active season, too. I-25, Poplar, 2nd Street, and 12th Street closures have been in effect for the last month or so. Now we can add some upcoming road closures starting Monday.

Evansville PD announced planned manhole repair work. They wanted to share the information before the weekend so you're not caught off guard Monday morning.

On Monday, 10/5/26, work will begin at 3rd Street and Buena Vista Street, then move over the next couple of days to the intersection of 3rd Street and Copper Ave.

This will be a fairly significant obstacle for residents who travel through this area. So, if you live in that area, you'll need to adjust your travel plans, which will probably mean changing your timing a little. Especially if you're heading to work or getting the kids to school.

Remember, when you're traveling routes you're not as familiar with, keep your eyes peeled for kids and hazards you might not notice.

When you're driving through or near construction zones:

  • Slow down
  • Keep your distance from other drivers
  • Follow instructions
    • Signs
    • Workers
  • Pay Attention
    • Sudden stops
    • Heavy machinery
  • Keep Distractions at a Minimum
    • Conversations
    • Eating or Drinking
    • Phones
    • Loud music

Be patient; the work will be done before you know it, and remember they're not doing the work just to mess with your life. It needs to be done to ensure things are working properly for Evansville.

If you have questions, you can always reach out to the Evansville Police or Public Works Departments.
