Explore Jobs That Celebrate Wyoming’s Natural Beauty
I sometimes wonder what I'm going to do if, or when, I retire from being on the radio. It's hard to think about leaving a profession you've spent 30+ years of your life doing. I know it's not just me wondering that, especially in Wyoming, where workers are dedicated to their careers. You hear about folks in the medical, manufacturing, ranching, and oil/mining fields working for 25+ years all the time and retiring before the retirement age. When that happens, what in the heck are you going to do to pass the time, keep the insurance, and keep making money?
An option I'd recommend is one I'll consider when that time comes for me: the Wyoming State Parks Department. If you're someone who loves the 'Wyoming lifestyle,' of being outside, being in the parks, enjoying Wyoming views, as well as having a chance to make an impact in conservation, getting people involved and educated in the outdoors.
If you're currently in this position and looking to transition into a new career or find something to do for the summer, the Wyoming State Parks is hiring for many seasonal and year-round positions. These positions aren't just in a couple of locations; if you've ever wanted to experience another part of Wyoming, there's likely a position elsewhere you'll be interested in.
Some of the jobs you can apply for are:
- Trails Maintenance
- Commissioned/ Non-Commissioned State Park Rangers
- Park Maintenance
- Seasonal Crew Members
- Seasonal Interpretive Rangers
- Trail Tech
That's just a small list of options. You can see the full menu of jobs by going to the State Parks job page, or head right to the WYO State Parks website or social media pages to see all of the possibilities that are waiting for you.
