2025 Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing State Championship Preview [VIDEO]

The 2025 Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing State Championships will wrap up the prep season outside Laramie this weekend. The Happy Jack Trails near the Tie City Trailhead in the Happy Jack Recreation Area east of Laramie serves as the host site on Friday and Saturday. This year’s championships feature a shorter classic race and a longer freestyle or skate race. Fisk Johansson of Kelly Walsh returns to defend his title in the classic race. There will be a new champion in the freestyle race for the boys. There will be a new champion in both girls’ races.

GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN:

Defending Champ = Lander (seeking 3rd consecutive title & 13th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = None; there will be a new champion in both races.

Teams Participating = Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale, Sheridan

Schedule:

Friday, 2-28-25: 5km Classic race, 10 a.m. (30-second intervals)

Saturday, 3-1-25: 10km Freestyle or Skate race, 10:40 a.m. or after boys (mass start – Friday’s results will determine placement)

Defending Champ = Kelly Walsh (seeking a 2nd straight title, 4th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = Fisk Johannson from Kelly Walsh won last year’s classic race. There will be a new champion in the freestyle race.
