The Cheyenne Central Indians used a late push to win the 2026 Class 4A boys swimming and diving state championship last weekend in Cheyenne at the East High School Aquatics Facility. The Indians won their 13th title in school history and first one in 13 years. Central won two events and used its depth to score 203 team points and dethrone Laramie by 14 points in the final standings.

Junior Brady Benne was the lone individual event winner for the Indians. He captured his third consecutive diving state championship. Over 11 dives, Benne scored 466.60 points to earn the crown. He won by more than 51 points. The second victory was in the 400 Freestyle relay. Central outraced Laramie to the wall in a time of 3:17.26. The Indians also had 11 other top-six finishes, which included three runner-up efforts, that helped bring home the title. The second-place finishes were in the 200-medley relay, Chris Hager in the 200 IM, and Hager in the 100 Backstroke.

Here was the end of the 400 Free relay, and a quick reaction from head coach Josh Bott that punctuated the crown.

Laramie took second in the team standings with 189 points. Evanston finished third with 147 points, and Green River took fourth with 143 team points.

Three swimmers won two events each. Sheridan’s Ben Forsythe captured first place in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke races for the third straight year. Campbell County's Cy Gallion and Brady Hunt also won two apiece. Gallion won the 200 IM and 500 Free, while Hunt was first in the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly.

Two more individual event champions were Koen Asper from Rock Springs in the 100 Free and Alex Jordan of Riverton in the 100 Back. Asper outsprinted the field by nearly three seconds in the 100 Free. Jordan took the backstroke by nearly one second.

Green River won the 200-medley relay. The Wolves edged Central by 0.13 seconds. Evanston was the winner in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Click the button below for full meet results.

Forsythe was chosen as the 4A Athlete of the Meet and Athlete of the Year. Talan Premer from Cheyenne Central was selected as the Assistant Coach of the Year. Bott was named the 4A Boys Coach of the Year.
