Wyoming’s First Sanctioned Outdoor High School Volleyball Matches [PHOTOS]

Evanston High School hosted the first sanctioned outdoor prep volleyball matches last Friday night at Kay Facrell Stadium. Five Wyoming and three Idaho teams took part in the unique event. After a slight schedule change, Cokeville was the only Wyoming team that earned a victory.

It was originally four Wyoming teams versus four out-of-state opponents, but the Utah squad did not stay to play outdoors. The tournament pivoted, and Big Piney stepped up to fill the void.

In the first match, 1A No. 2 Cokeville defeated the 2A Punchers in two sets. The scores were 25-14 and 25-21.

The host Red Devils were up next on the outdoor court. Evanston took on last year's Idaho Class 4A runner-up, Bear Lake. The Bears prevailed in two sets, 25-23 and 25-14.

The third match pitted 4A No. 2 Green River against Bonneville High School from Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Bees topped the Wolves, 2-0. The scores were 25-17 and 25-22.

The final match of the night was 4A Cheyenne East against Hillcrest High School from Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Knights defeated the Thunderbirds in two sets, 25-16 and 25-19.
