Macklemore and Ryan Lewis jumped way outside the box for the song Same Love. It's very rare in the Hip-Hop world to positively (at least) discuss gay marriages. In the world of misogynistic themes, Macklemore steps out on a limb and discusses his experience with a gay uncle and even believing himself to be gay at one point in his lyrics. The duo originally released the track July 18,2012 as support of legalizing same-sex marriage in reference to the Washington Referendum 74 (R-74). The referendum passed.
