Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers seized about 292 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $1 million during a traffic stop near Laramie on Saturday, according to a news release.

Law enforcement officers arrested and charged residents of California and New York with felonies, according to the news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagner.

A trooper stopped a rental truck for speeding eastbound on Interstate 80 about 18 miles west of Laramie.

After hearing confusing and conflicting stories from the truck's occupants, coupled with an admission to marijuana in the truck, the trooper called for a K-9.

The dog alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in a couch in the back of the truck. Troopers found the large amount of marijuana the couch and other furniture.

With the assistance of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, troopers arrested Jia Jun Yu, 41, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Kwok Lun Chow, 48, of San Francisco.

Yu and Chow were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and felony conspiracy to deliver.

The marijuana, with an estimated street value of $1,068,000, is believed to have originated out of the Seattle area and was destined for New Jersey.
