A Wyoming resident died early Saturday after their vehicle crashed through a fence, jumped a ditch and rolled near Lander.

Brodie Schneider, 23, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle, according to a crash report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Schneider was southbound on US 287 near milepost six at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday, traveling at a high rate of speed on a slightly downgrade left-hand curve.

The vehicle left the southbound lane to the right, crossing the rumble strips before Schneider overcorrected to the left.

That caused the vehicle to cross the northbound lane and leave the highway, hitting a delineator post and right-of-way fence before jumping a ditch, sailing through trees and crossing a small creek.

Upon landing, the vehicle turned counterclockwise and rolled one and a half times, coming to rest on its roof, according to the crash report.

Schneider was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Road conditions were listed as dry, and weather was reported to be clear at the time of the crash. Troopers are investigating speed as a contributing factor.
