Fire crews in Converse County are battling a large wildland fire south of Glenrock. Converse County Emergency Manager Russ Dalgarn tells K2 Radio that the fire has burned at least 100 acres, and is producing heavy flames and smoke. The fire is in the Little Box Elder Canyon, near Natural Bridge.

No homes or structures are in the path of the fire, and no evacuations have been ordered. Dalgarn said officials believe the fire was sparked by lightning. He said lightning started several other fires near Douglas, but rain in that area helped contain those blazes quickly. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
