New DVD and Blu-ray Releases — February 2013
It's the shortest month of the year, but there's no shortage of movies hitting DVD and Blu-ray this month. Check out our guide to see what you might want to buy this February.
February 5
'Flight' -- Directed by Robert Zemeckis. Starring Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle, and Nadine Velazquez. When an airline pilot saves his flight from crashing, an investigation reveals that he may have been the cause.
'Peter Pan' -- Disney's classic animated adaptation of the JM Barrie story follows a young girl and her brothers as their taken away to Neverland by Peter Pan, a boy who dares to never grow old.
'Here Comes the Boom' -- Directed by Frank Coraci. Starring Kevin James, Salma Hayek, and Henry Winkler. With extra-curricular activities at his high school threatened to end, a biology teacher moonlights as an MMA fighter to raise the cash needed to save them.
'Alex Cross' -- Directed by Rob Cohen. Starring Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, and Rachel Nichols. Detective Alex Cross is back and the clock is ticking as he must track down a deadly and deranged serial killer with an affinity for torture.
'Celeste and Jesse Forever' -- Directed by Lee Toland Krieger. Starring Rashida Jones, Andy Samberg, and Chris Messina. Divorced couple Celeste and Jesse struggle to maintain a friendship while they date other people.
'A Late Quartet' -- Directed by Yaron Zilberman. Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Walken, and Catherine Keener. On the eve of their final performance, members of a renowned string quartet struggle to keep it together when faced with heartbreak and the impending death of one of their own.
'Toys in the Attic' -- Directed by Jiri Barta and Vivian Schilling. Starring Forest Whitaker, Joan Cusack, and Cary Elwes. Toys band together to save their doll friend from the Land of Evil and a nefarious foe.
'Deadfall' -- Directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky. Starring Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, and Charlie Hunnam. After robbing a casino, two siblings go their separate ways to dodge the authorities, but end up reuniting at the Thanksgiving dinner of another family.
February 12
'Skyfall' -- Directed by Sam Mendes. Starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, and Judi Dench. M's past comes back to haunt her and James Bond's loyalty is put to the ultimate test in order to save MI6.
'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' -- Directed by Michael J. Bassett. Starring Kit Harrington, Adelaide Clemens, and Sean Bean. A young woman's father goes missing, sending her on a search that leads her into the heart of the mysterious town that's haunted her dreams since she was a child.
'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' -- Directed by Stephen Chbosky. Starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller. Charlie enters high school as an outsider with no friends, but finds hope in the friendships he forges with fellow weirdos.
'The Man with the Iron Fists' -- Directed by RZA. Starring RZA, Russell Crowe, and Lucy Liu. A blacksmith who forges swords for warriors must pick up a weapon himself if he wants to save his small town from a band out outlaws.
'The Sessions' -- Directed by Ben Lewin. Starring John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, and William H. Macy. Based on a true story, a man with polio who lives his life in an iron lung sets out to lose his virginity with the help of a sex therapist.
'Bully' -- Directed by Lee Hirsch. A documentary on peer-to-peer bullying in schools across America.
'Robot and Frank' -- Directed by Jake Schreier. Starring Frank Langella, Peter Sarsgaard, and Susan Sarandon. An elderly ex-jewel thief receives a robot as a gift from his son, but soon forms a heist team with his new mechanical friend.
'The Kid with a Bike' -- Directed by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne. Starring Thomas Doret and Cecile DeFrance. A hairdresser in a small town takes in an abandoned orphan boy.
February 19
'Argo' -- Directed by Ben Affleck. Starring Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, and John Goodman. This film follows the true story of a joint operation by the CIA and the Canadian government to free Americans during an Iranian crisis in 1980.
'Sinister' -- Directed by Scott Derrickson. Starring Ethan Hawke and Vincent D'Onofrio. While researching his latest book, a true crime writer discovers a box containing reels of murders dating back to 1960.
'Anna Karenina' -- Directed by Joe Wright. Starring Keira Knightley, Jude Law, and Aaron Johnson. In the 19th century, Russian aristocrat Anna Karenina enters into an affair with a count.
'Fun Size' -- Directed by Josh Schwartz. Starring Victoria Justice, Chelsea Handler, and Ana Gasteyer. Wren just wants to go to a Halloween party with a cute boy, but her plans are cancelled when her mom forces her to babysit her younger brother, who goes missing while Trick-or-Treating with friends.
'Undefeated' -- Directed by Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin. A documentary that follows an underdog football team as they look to change their luck with a new coach.
February 26
'The Master' -- Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams. When an impulsive and irrational Navy vet returns from war, he takes up with a religious movement and their charismatic leader.
'Chasing Mavericks' -- Directed by Michael Apted and Curtis Hanson. Starring Gerard Butler, Jonny Weston, and Elisabeth Shue. A young surfer discovers a big break is heading his way and enlists the help of an old pro to prepare for it.
'How to Survive a Plague' -- Directed by David France. This documentary follows two prominent coalitions as they race to find a way to help the afflicted survive the AIDS outbreak that took hold in the 80s.
