There is very little that excites me in the video game world anymore. Although graphics get better and controllers get more complicated (as does the game-play), most games are just sequels... a rehashing of things that have worked in the past (see also: COD, Halo, Mario and every sports game). Maybe that's why watching the new Transformers: Devastation trailer has me all twitterpated.

Although there have Transformers-themed video games in the past, this is the only one that gives the older-than-30 crowd nostalgia, which isn't to say the younger gamers won't enjoy it as well. The new 'Transformers: Devastation' game is unique as it gives you a host of characters and most of the original voices from the G1 series. "G1" is shorthand for generation one, which is how the hardcore Transformers' fans identify the original 1985 cartoon series produced by Marvel Productions and distributed by Hasbro Studios.

A lot of elements from the G1 series made it's way into Michael Bay's movie adaptions, like character names and some of the original voice cast, but it's still not quite the same. 'Transformers: Devastation' gives you that cartoon look and feel, but still adds all the new school game-play and story-lines to keep the younger fans more than interested. Some fan favorite player characters are the Autobots' fearless leader, Optimus Prime, the original VW-inspired Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Sideswipe and the Dinobots commander, Grimlock.

After seeing the trailer alone, I can tell you that this will be the next game in my collection and it will probably rule the next three weeks of my life! 'Transformers: Devastation' was released to stores today (October 6th, 2015).
