LL first burst on the scene in the mid 80's, while still in his teens and was one of Def Jam Record's flagship artists (along with Run DMC and the Beastie Boys). LL is the closest thing to an idol that I have personally ever had. He's the main reason why I got into Hip-Hop music and his microphone tattoo inspired me to get one as well. "I'm Bad" was the first video and song I ever heard from LL and I have since rushed to the stores to purchase anything he's put out. From his battle raps like Mama Said Knock You Out to love ballads like I Need Love & Around The Way Girl to club-bangers like Headsprung, he never ceases to amaze. Furthermore he seems to have found the fountain of youth as he hasn't appeared to have aged in 20 years (Mr. Smith is now 45)!

In addition to his current stint as Agent Sam Hanna on NCIS: Los Angeles, LL is planning on running for mayor of Detroit this year. Let the era of James Todd Smith continue!
