If you've seen a lot of avalanche videos, but always wanted to see one caused by a helicopter, I can help you with that wish right now.

According to the YouTube share, this avalanche happened just outside of Telluride on March 4. The blame or credit for this avalanche goes to a helicopter.

There's a good chance that this was intentional. If you've never been to Telluride, the town's main street quite literally runs from where the street ends and the mountain begins. It's a gorgeous town. To prevent an unwanted situation where an avalanche causes an accident, they do planned events to mitigate a potential bigger problem down the road.

The other possibility is the chopper could have been in the process of taking a skier up the mountain as some of the more extreme skiers do like drops by helicopter to get to the more inaccessible parts of the mountain.

I checked the Colorado Avalanche Information Center to see if they had specific information about this event, but couldn't find what I was looking for. On any given day in Colorado, there are dozens of avalanches, so finding one is not necessarily easy.

No matter if it was accidental or on purpose, this avalanche was a spectacular event to witness. Really glad someone had the camera rolling so I could share it with you.
