Who said the beach had to be by an ocean?

The dictionary describes a beach as "a pebbly or sandy shore, especially by the ocean between high- and low-water marks." The word especially says to me that it is ideal, but not required. Therefore, who says that a beach can't be found in Wyoming.

No one.

In fact, there is a beach here in the Cowboy State that you can camp out at. It's Glendo Reservoir in Glendo State Park. I'll pause for the ooh's and aahh's. According to OnlyInYourState.com, this little gem is the largest beach in the state.

It looks pretty beachy to me!

Many people enjoy the water activities, like boating, but you could just as easily throw down a towel and soak up some sun. The Sandy Beach is where most people enjoy their beach-like activities like swimming and such. The Glendo State Park Facebook page says you can reserve one of their campsites and stay for awhile.

Being from California where we lived in the mountains, but could easily spend a day at the beach, this is valuable to me. It's like I've got the best of both worlds from my childhood. Have you been to Glendo Reservoir? Are you planning on taking a trip this summer now that you've seen it?
