Shawn Carter, better known to the world as Jay-Z is about to make history again in the record business with the release of his twelfth studio album entitled "Magna Carta Holy Grail". The album will be platinum (1 million sales) before it ever hits the stands. How is this possible?

Samsung pre-purchased 1 million copies which will be available for free download at midnight, July 4th, 2013 Eastern Standard Time to the first one million Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note II users of a new app. This is a game changing event in the record industry as nothing like it has ever been done before.

The album boasts production from some of this biggest heavy hitters in Hip-Hop like Timbaland, Pharrell Williams (of the Neptunes), Rick Rubin and Swiss Beats. But what does the title actually mean?

The "Magna Carta" was a document forced upon England's King John in 1215 as barons attempted to curb his wayward rule. Though the document eventually required revisions and alterations in order to be effective, its fundamental purpose was to give some power back to the people. The document later served as a guideline for the Founding Fathers as they drafted the U.S. Constitution and outlined the rights of the individual.

That and the "Holy Grail" portion of the title may be more braggadocious then labelmate Kanye West's own effort entitled "Yeezus" (as in Kanye being Jesus Christ). The Holy Grail often refers to the chalice that Jesus drank out of at the Last Supper, but the actual meaning of "grail" is: something sought after. Putting the full title together, Jay-Z made his statement clear... he's changing the way music is sold, how albums sales will be calculated in the future and this effort will never be forgotten. The countdown has begun.
