Natrona County High School and Park Elementary School, in Casper, were placed on a brief lockdown Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE: 3:35 PM-

Natrona County School District Director of Student Support Services, Dr. Dean Braughton, says that they locked down the schools under the advisement of the police.

"At 1:59 this afternoon we received a request from Casper dispatch, to lockdown NCHS.  A dangerous situation in the area.  We did lock down NC as well as Park Elementary," says Dr. Braughton.  "We stayed in contact with Casper PD, and a short time later we were notified that the situation was resolved and the lockdown was lifted."

An announcement was made on the Natrona County School District 1 Facebook page that Natrona County High School had been placed on lockdown, shortly after 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon.  This was followed by an announcement, minutes later, that Park Elementary school was also on lockdown status.

Another announcement saying that all lock downs had been lifted, and that Casper Police had assessed the situation was posted to Facebook at 2:27 pm.
