A Glenrock resident died in a crash east of the town on U.S. Highway 20-26 on Thursday morning, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Patrol Lt. Joseph Scimone said the man who died was Michael Stewart, 48. The Highway Patrol has notified the next of kin, Scimone said.

"Mr. Stewart was heading westbound on 20-26, and approaching a Dodge pickup, which was heading eastbound on 20-26," Scimone said. "Mr. Stewart crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes, and hit the Dodge head-on."

Patrol Sgt. David Wagner said in a news release the driver of the pickup, 70-year-old Glenrock resident Jack Bloem, unsuccessfully tried to take evasive action when the crash occurred at 9:45 a.m.

Stewart was wearing his seat belt and died at the scene, Wagener said.

Bloem and his passenger, 70-year-old Charlene Bloem, were wearing their seat belts. They were taken to the Wyoming Medical Center by ground ambulance and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Wagener said.
Scimone said no charges will be filed.

Driver inattention is being currently investigated as the contributing factor in this crash.

This marked the 88th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016, compared to 113 fatalities during this same time last year.
