Weston County received somewhere between two and three inches of rain Saturday evening, causing flash flooding and leaving a family displaced.

In addition to damaging homes, floodwaters closed roads in the Newcastle area, Weston County Emergency Management Coordinator Gilbert Nelson said.

Nelson said the displaced family discovered black mold in their home following the flooding. The American Red Cross was in Newcastle earlier this week and provided flood buckets to people who experienced flooding.

Nelson said everything is mostly back to normal in the area with officials' foremost concern being homes that have flood damage.

Anyone who needs assistance should contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 or Weston County Emergency Management at 307-746-4315.
