REPORT: Casper Would Be Happier if Christmas Lights Went Up NOW

You may or may not be ready for this, but there's a new report that says Casper would be a lot happier if Christmas lights went up right now. Science.

This new study comes courtesy of the Journal of Environmental Psychology. This report was even shared by The Today Show. Here's a tidbit of what the scientists said:

U.S. residents may use holiday decorations on their home's exterior to communicate friendliness and cohesiveness with neighbors. In the present research, we examine whether strangers (naive raters) can accurately identify the more friendly residents, and what aspects of the homes' exteriors contribute to their impressions.

OK, fine. But, what was their conclusion?

When Christmas decorations were present, raters actually attributed greater sociability to the nonsociable residents, citing a more open appearance as the basis for their judgments.

I'll translate. You put up Christmas lights in September, you're happier. You can't argue with science or can you?

There are articles like one on Shutterfly that say the weekend after Thanksgiving is the best time to put up Christmas lights. However, Better Homes and Gardens says it's never too early for Christmas decorations. What say you? Are you Scrooge or Clark Griswold?
