For today's Throwback Thursday, I had to grab one of my all time favorite Hip-Hop songs and videos: "It's All About The Benjamins". I was actually in Japan when the song first came out on a DJ Clue mixtape. Sean "Diddy" Combs was still using the Puff Daddy moniker at the time. The beat was the first thing that grabbed me. It also was my first time hearing Diddy's then new Bad Boy Records signees, The Lox.

This week's Throwback Thursday spotlight shines on the beautiful (and semi recently re-married) Janet Jackson. My iPod being on shuffle sparked this choice. Her 1997 album The Velvet Rope, sparked one major single (that I can remember), Got 'Til It's Gone, which featured a sample of folk singer, Joni Mitchel, and a rap verse from A Tribe Called Quest front man, Q-Tip.

Throwback Thursday is in the dirty south once again. This week, we take it back to Three 6 Mafia. Although the roster has grown and dwindled several different times in the past decade, the core remains the same. Three 6 has always been Juicy J and DJ Paul. The group was originally known as Backyard Posse and formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1991. The original group initially included Lord Infamous as well.

Throwback Thursday takes it back to one of the most well known Hip-Hop songs that reminds the masses of Halloween, My Minds Playing Tricks On Me. The song is of the album, We Can't be Stopped, by the Texas trio known as the Geto Boys, who are widely known as the pioneers of southern rap music.

Super Cat is a dancehall/reggae artist born in Kingston Jamaica, best known in America for doing remix versions of his songs with popular hip-hop and R&B artist of the era. This video marks the first time I ever head the late, great, Notorious B.I.G. (along with Sean Diddy Combs who was going by Puff Daddy at the time). Biggies now famous line, which has been sampled and become a staple in slang terminlogy all around the world, “I love it when you call me Big Poppa”, was first used on this track.

It's that time again to go back. Throwback Thursday highlights the dirty south once again. This week, we go back to Ludacris' first official single. Christopher "Ludacris" Bridges began as a radio disc jockey for the Atlanta station Hot 97.5 and used the name "Chris Lova Lova". During this time, he started selling his music out of his trunk. After pushing a nice amount of units (it has been rumored to be more than 50,000), he gained the attention of Def Jam Records.

Throwback Thursday jumps a little further back in the time machine then normal. How far back, you ask? To Busta Rhymes very first solo video! Think 1995, the so-called Golden Age of Hip-Hop. "Woo-Hah! Got You All In Check" was Busa Bus' first solo video as well...

For this Throwback Thursday, I decided to mix it up even more. Time to add another genre in the mix. Today the spotlight is on Canadian Punk Rock band, Sum 41. The original group consisted of lead singer/guitarist: Deryck Whibley, drummer/vocalist: Steve Jocz, lead guitar/vocals: David Baksh and bass guitar/vocals: Jason McCaslin...
