For this week's Throwback Thursday video we take it back to 1998 and the late great Big Punisher a.k.a. Big Pun.

Big Pun, whose real name was Christopher Lee Rios, burst into the Hip-Hop scene after being discovered by Fat Joe in 1995.  Joe quickly threw him on a few tracks and the rest is history. Pun had already garnered a significant underground presence after being featured on tracks with other Hispanic-American groups,  like The Beatnuts.

'Still Not A Player' was Pun's breakout single which featured R&B crooner Joe. It also lead his album sales to hit platinum status, making him the first Latino rapper to ever do so. His second album also went platinum, but it didn't do quite as well. Most believe it a lot of that had to do with his passing before the release.

Too many of our Hip-Hop heavy weights (pardon the Pun), where taken to soon. Hopefully someday we'll get a chance to see them all on one stage again. R.I.P. Big Pun!!!
