Do not get between a bear and a potential snack. This video shows what a black bear did to a tree in Montana. Spoiler alert: it does not end well for the tree.

According to the YouTube description, this video was actually 2 videos captured by a trail camera in northwest Montana near Kalispell. Using its insane sense of smell, the bear figures out there are tons of insects in a tree. That's not news. But, what the bear does to the tree is an eye-opener.

I was familiar with the fact that bears climb trees. I was not aware that they potentially annihilate them if food is to be had. The brute force this bear releases on this timber is amazing. Yes, a tree was severely harmed in the making of this video.

Oh, and it doesn't look like the insects on the inside of this tree had a good day either. The bear however looks quite happy.

This is yet another reason you never want a bear to view you as a snack if you meet one in the wild.
