Wyoming is known for lots of things: movies shot here (or at least based on our wondrous scenery), hunting, skiing and fishing to name a few. Having video games based here unfortunately does not rank high on the list though.

After doing a little research, I was pleased to find that there is actually more than just one game to take place in the Cowboy State!

    Firewatch

I found out about this game earlier this year and at the time, it was the ONLY video game I knew that took place in the Cowboy State.

The storyline (along with the star-studded voice acting) has made Firewatch one of the most popular picks for the hardcore gamer. It's a first-person adventure game, so don't expect to be doing a lot of shooting stuff. Regardless, that absolutely does NOT take away from the fun factor.

Originally it was only available for the computer-based gamers, but it know it is available for consoles (PS4 and Xbox One).

    Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is the 4th installment of the 'Call of Juarez' series. A first person shooter that takes place in the wild west circa 1910, it's still a pretty good game that's received moderately positive reviews.

It doesn't completely take place in Wyoming though, we're just one of the many western levels. That's still good enough to land it on the list.

    Time Crisis 4

I've been a fan of the Time Crisis series since it's inception to the arcade world back in 1995, with Time Crisis 4 being one of my favorites.

Since Casper no longer has a substantial video arcade, I had totally forgotten that the earlier levels of this shooter take place in Wyoming and Colorado.

If you're having a bad day at work or school, mowing down untold thousands with a myriad of weapons, in a 007 style story-mode is an awesome way to cool off.

    The Last of Us

The Last of Us would have landed first on this list had more of the game actually taken place in Wyoming. It's game play is considered as an "action-adventure survival horror".

This game is like playing a video game version of "The Walking Dead" meets "I Am Legend". Maybe that's why it's been so critically acclaimed, averaging a 9 out of 10 score!
