Alleged DUI Driver Hits Vehicles, Crashes Into Cheyenne Business
A 26-year-old man was hospitalized Monday after the Wyoming Highway Patrol says he hit two vehicles in south Cheyenne, crashed into a concrete plant and injured himself after exiting his vehicle.
Sgt. Jeremy Beck says it all began when a passerby stopped to check on a driver that appeared to be passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle near the tipi on the S. Greeley Highway.
Beck says the driver, later identified as Andrew Barnes, woke up and drove north on the S. Greeley Highway.
"(He) collided with a vehicle that was slowing down there at the light at Williams," said Beck. "(Then he) backed up and struck another motorist that was behind him."
Beck says Barnes then drove onto Vaughn Concrete's property.
"The car hit a dumpster, cable and a concrete mold before coming to a stop," said Beck. "(Barnes) exited his vehicle and fell to the ground somehow causing injury to himself."
"He was transported to the Cheyenne hospital and issued citations for driving while under the influence, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident," he added.
Beck says no one else was injured in the incident.
