Our Percentage of Daily Screen Time is Staggering
This survey put a number on how much time we spend staring at a screen each day.
Can I ask you a question? Have you ever thought about how much time you spend in front of a screen each day? We live in a digital world so maybe the sheer volume of hours you spend working, streaming or being entertained doesn't jump out at you. That doesn't change the fact that we spend a huge chunk of our day and life in front of one of these devices.
In fact, almost half of our day is devoted to screen time.
This is according to a recent survey conducted by CooperVision, a contact lens manufacturer. After surveying more than 2,000 Americans, they found that the average person spends 42 percent of their day using something with a screen. After factoring in the average amount a sleep we get, eight hours, that means screen time accounts for seven hours of our day.
And it all adds up too.
CooperVision calculated those seven hours a day across the average lifespan for at total of about 8,000 days. Which, doesn't sound like a lot when you're banking on 80+ years of life, but if you break it down into years things get scary. 8,000 days is about 22 years of your life.
