The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the total solar eclipse with a special space-themed outdoor concert on August 20th in Washington Park. "Close Encounters of the Symphonic Kind" takes off with some favorite sci-fi film music. "A lot of that includes film scores from the world's favorite composer, John Williams," says Rachel Bailey, the Executive Director of WSO. "Of course he did film scores for Star Warns, ET, and Apollo 13, so the symphony will be playing excerpts from some of those."

Next up, Russian-American violinist Alexander Markov will take the stage. "He has been to Casper before, he absolutely adores Wyoming," says Bailey. "And he will join WSO to play excerpts from his new 'Rock n' Roll Concerto' on his custom-built, six-string electric gold violin."

According to the Symphony, the gates will open at 5:30 p.m. so you can bring blanket and enjoy a picnic with family and friends. Ticket holders can bring their own food and beverages, but you'll also find a wide range of food and drink vendors. The Casper Children’s Chorale will provide concert goers with pre-concert entertainment including a piece specially commissioned for the Eclipse, before the symphony begins at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets are on sale for $27.50 for an individual or $80 for a family pass, which includes two adults and up to three children under the age of 18. Children under 10 are free. There are a limited number of tickets, so organizers are encouraging people not to wait for the last minute. You can find more information and purchase tickets at www.wyomingsymphony.org/eclipse.
