Wyoming is known for a lot of things, unfortunately Hip-Hop & Rap songs does not land anywhere close to the top of that list. After the latest Cowboy State-themed single from Afroman, it did make us wonder how many other 307-based rap songs are out there. Some of the ones we found are just funny, some are actually really good, but here are our favorites.

    Casper

    by Khosi

To our knowledge, this is the first "professional grade" rap song ever recorded about Casper (or Wyoming in general for that matter). Written and performed by Khosi, this song was super big around 2002 - 2003. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing this one blasting out of someone's car stereo or bumping at a house party. The hook was catchy and the beat had that club/party vibe. This one had it all.

There was also a remix version you can check out here!

    Summertime in Wyoming

    by Chris Hattings

This one is just kind of cute... if you can call a parody Hip-Hop song cute. It's a remake of the DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince hit song, Summertime.

It was done by Riverton weatherman, Chris Hattings. You can tell he's not a "real" rapper, but it doesn't mean you won't get a kick out of this karaoke-like Wyoming version. It's also clean and kid-friendly (the only one like that on this list).

    307

    by MC Viruz

When you think Horrorcore (a sub-genre in rap), the first Wyoming artist that comes up is MC Viruz. Maybe that's why it was such a big surprise when he linked up with the more party-themed No Goodaz for his Wyo-based anthem, simply named: 307.

Shot entirely in Wyoming (in and around Casper and Alcova Lake), the video shows all different ages and races having a good 'ole time.

    Hometown

    Y-O

This one was done by Cheyenne rapper, Y-O. The video for Hometown is easily the most viewed Wyoming-themed Hip-Hop music video to date, and holds that title for both YouTube and Facebook.

Y-O recently released Hometown Pt. 2 which you can check out here.

    Brown & Yellow

    No Goodaz

Everyone remembers the Wiz Khalifa breakout hit, Black and Yellow. Well, Casper Hip-Hop crew No Goodaz stepped out of the shadows with their Wyo-colored remake, Brown & Yellow.

Radio friendly and easy to sing, (thanks to the easily recognizable beat), this one kept Pokes Pride burning up all through 2011.

    Wyoming Hip Hop Cypher

    Sickamore Treezy

What happens when you put six Rock Springs-based emcees on one track? You get the Wyoming Hip Hop Cypher. Posted by Sickamore Treezy, this song is rap music's answer to a mosh pit. It's dark, it's dirty, it's gritty and let's you know The Springs has it own brand of lyrical style.
