Can we add this to the list of reasons why I don't go camping?

Don't get me wrong, I love the outdoors. I really do. I enjoy being out in them and I am an advocate for protecting and preserving them. I just don't want to spend the night in them. First of all, I'm terrified of snakes and the thought of sleeping on their level makes me shiver.

I would also consider what happened to this teen camp counselor as be a reason I don't camp.

According to Fox 31 in Denver, 19-year-old Dylan woke up to find that he was being attacked by a black bear around 4 a.m. last weekend. Dylan, who is a staff member at Glacier View Ranch in Boulder County, said he was woken up by a crunching sound. That sound turned out to be a black bear gnawing on his head and the bear's paw around him, attempting to drag him out of his sleeping bag.

Dylan was not sleeping in a tent at the time.

He admits to being scared, but he sprung into action to save his life. In an interview with the news station he said he pulled on the bear's ears and poked it in the eye repeatedly before the bear let him go. The bear ran away, but Dylan was left with some injuring. The gashes on his head required nine staples that were administered at Boulder Community Health. After treatment he was released.
