You'd be forgiven for assuming that actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen — a.k.a The Mother of Dragons a.k.a The Breaker of Chains a.k.a.The Unburnt Queen of the Andals — on Game of Thrones, is lacking in the insecurity department. Yet like many of us, even the Khaleesi needs a little liquid encouragement when it comes to getting naked, and she admitted that's exactly how she was able to push through her "Sexiest Woman Alive" cover shoot with Esquire in 2015.

"That's me Photoshopped and drunk!" she quipped, gesturing to the sultry cover while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 14. Talking to the host, Clarke revealed that shooting for her semi-bare cover was more difficult than filming all of her nude and sex scenes on Thrones combined, not to mention her 2013 stint on Broadway in which she stripped down onstage for a Breakfast at Tiffany's bath scene.

"Doing those kind of like, sex scenes on camera is one thing, but doing it as yourself, I need alcohol to do. That's what I needed," the actress explained, laughing. "They just kept giving me vodka, and I would be like, 'I'm just going to keep the duvet. I'm going to keep the sheet up!' They'd be like, 'Three, two, one... go!' and just yank it down. You're like, 'No!'"

The revelation makes sense: In 2015, Clarke told The Hollywood Reporter that she turned down an offer to star as Anastasia Steele (portrayed instead by Dakota Johnson) in Fifty Shades of Grey because she was afraid to be typecast: "I'd done nudity before and was concerned with being labeled for doing it again," she revealed.

Nevertheless, while she may have needed some coaxing to open up during the "funny" editorial photo-shoot, she's happy to have been awarded the title of "Sexiest Woman Alive," joking, "I feel like I should have opened supermarkets or something."

She may not yet rule Westeros, but at least she'll always wear that particular crown... Well, at least until the magazine drops their October 2016 issue and selects a new sexy lady.
