With radar gun in hand, the Grinch took to the streets of Cheyenne Thursday to nab speeders and other traffic violators.

"The Grinch had to do a bit of community service and as part of that the Grinch has been tasked with doing some radar enforcement for us," said Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta.

"We're obviously trying to prevent crashes, slow people down and make sure they're going the speed limit year-round, but during the holidays we like to have a little bit of fun with it," Malatesta added.

Thanks to the Grinch's help, officers were able to pull over 29 speeders and issue nine tickets within a two-hour period.

"Our fastest violator was speeding at 62 mph in a 40 mph zone," said Malatesta.

"Even though we've only got the Grinch today, our officers will be out every day looking for speeders, looking for traffic violations and trying to make sure that people are driving safe," added Malatesta.
