Kesha took the stage Saturday night in Nashville at the Human Rights Campaign Nashville Equality Dinner, where she accepted the HRC Visibility Award for her contributions to the LGBT community. In her acceptance speech, according to Entertainment Weekly, she thanked her fans and supporters who have stood by her through her legal battles with her record label, Sony, and Dr. Luke.

“Many of you know I’m going through some personal things that have been really intense and hard lately, and I just want to say thank you for any support I’ve received,” she said to the crowd.

Reportedly, the "TiK ToK" singer became choked up halfway through her speech and stepped away for a moment to compose herself.

“I’ve met many members of the LGBT community and some very, very close friends who have come close to taking their own lives because of the abuse they’ve had to deal with, and that is heartbreaking,” Kesha said. “I don’t want to live in a world where we treat each other like that. That’s why my message has always been about being yourself, and we really have to love each other and support each other.”

The 29-year-old singer has alleged that Dr. Luke mentally, physically, and sexually abused her over a period of several years. She is seeking to be released from her contract with Sony and Dr. Luke in order to be able to produce new music without his involvement.

Dr. Luke has since denied all charges against him.
