Mills police have arrested a suspect allegedly responsible for fires that occurred in April and May, and in a city in central Texas, according to a news release.

The news release did not give the name of the suspect, but said he is expected to make his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court on Thursday.

The case began as four fires considered suspicious were reported in Mills:

  • April 3, a vehicle fire was reported in the area of 5th Street and Wasatch about 10:12 p.m.
  • May 9, a structure fire was reported in the 200 block of Midwest Street about 10:54 p.m.
  • May 24, a structure fire was reported in the 500 Block of Riverview about 9:23 p.m.
  • May 24, a structure fire was reported in the 500 block of Wasatch, about 11:50 p.m.

No injuries were reported in these fires.

The Mills Police Department conducted an extensive investigation with the help of the Mills Fire Department; and fire investigators from Natrona County, Casper Fire-EMS and the Evansville Fire Department. The Copperas Cove, Texas, Fire Department also participated in the investigation along with the Casper Police Department.

Wednesday afternoon, a suspect was identified and arrested in connection with two of the fires.

He was taken to the Natrona County Detention Center.

Mills Fire Department spokeswoman Kate Acord said the suspect's name will not be released at the time because the investigation is ongoing and it involves multiple jurisdictions.
